As of FRIDAY MARCH 13TH, 2020, The Tennessee State Supreme Court Ordered all Courts on the State and Local Level be closed UNTIL MARCH 31ST, 2020. Over the last week as other State's Courts Suspended Service, we have continued to work with our Partnered Law Firms and Process Servers to get service complete and sent in. WE HAVE CONTINUED TO SERVE EMERGENCY ORDERS OF THE COURT SUCH AS CUSTODY AND INJUNCTIONS.. EVICTIONS ARE HALTED UNLESS ISSUED PRIOR TO MARCH 13TH.. IF YOU DO GET SERVED WE ARE ISSUING COURT DATES ON OUT INTO LATE APRIL OR EARLY MAY SO THAT PEOPLE ARE NOT IMMEDIATELY EVICTED.. ( PRESIDENT TRUMPS ORDER ONLY APPLIES TO HUD HOUSING AT THIS TIME) Prior to this order and for the last month, Smoky Mountain Process and Legal has been wiping down clipboards and pens, and maintaining enough distance to safely serve Defendants. While obviously the closure of courts nationwide will slow down filings, We at Smoky Mountain Process are committed to providing the same level of white glove service you have come to enjoy as our clients within those guidelines as well as those issued by the CDC for essential business operations. All documents currently in our posession will be served as Defendants are located unless otherwise directed by our clients or the Courts. Mobile Notary Services to private individuals will continue, however our accessibility to healthcare facilities is now restricted unless its a vital emergency such as the Execution of Notary on a Will, POA, or Codicil at which time we will abide by whatever additional precautions are requested by the facility to which we have been summoned. We are currently looking at adding online Notary Services if it looks like the Pandemic Restriction will continue past next weekend. We are still currently monitoring the situations at the local jails and will continue to provide services there until edicts issued by the Sheriff's restrict those venues as well. We will continue to accept any filings from other Clients in locales that have not suspended Court and serve those clients as always again with those policies as outlined above in force. We will be prepared for when Restrictions lift and normal operations resume for the added volume so that our clients will experience the same smooth Service of Process they have become accustomed to during regular operations. We thank all of you for your support, and send best wishes to all of you for a seamless and uneventful time off as we all deal with the COVID-19 suspensions. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to give us a call at 865-347-7967. ~CHRIS
